9-214 (2/8/22) -- Hunting Online

It was hot today and promises to be hotter again over the next several days. I worked at household accounting, planning future travels, and doing some online browsing to find items that are difficult to purchase in this smaller town. I like getting things delivered to the door rather than driving down the highway in hopes that I might find what I'm looking for elsewhere. August has often been the month when major purchases occurred since that is when I took a couple of weeks 'off' before classes began. Now that I'm retired, this year the pattern remains. I expect this may not be perpetuated over the years, since taking time to go to another town or city to shop could happen any time. <smile> That is a difficult concept to get my head around some days -- particularly as we get back into being more mobile after the pandemic. It will improve, I'm sure.

The online searching will continue. I know what I want and I'm not sure if anyone makes it. I need new runners -- do they have to be glow in the dark yellow or green? <sigh> Those colours will not work with my wardrobe <grin>. I need boots -- do they have to be lined with wool? I'm allergic, so I find something that appeals to me only to find out that sheep have been involved. <sigh> I need a new phone -- do they have to cost the same as a mortgage payment? Even the ones that have been out for a couple of years seem rather pricey. <grump> Several other items are needed and it will be tricky to find what I want without first finding out what I don't want <grin>

While checking online off and on today hunting through listings of items -- some of which didn't even come close to the search terms -- a title song line echoed in my head -- yup -- a bit empty up there today. <grin>  Keep safe. Enjoy!
