9-242 (30/8/22) -- Still Summer

Very hot and humid air is visiting again for a few days. It was about 30C (86F) but felt like 39C (102F) with fairly solid feeling air. Summer is still with us, despite school starting up early next week. I headed up to campus to check mail and print a few documents. It felt cool int he building with a/c. <smile> Back at home, I turned on the portable a/c unit that helped make the house feel a bit more comfortable.

I spent the rest of the afternoon working on editing and revising a manuscript. There is much more to do with this one. I had some trouble getting my head in the right space to focus fully, but got a few things altered and made a list of questions to discuss with the co-author. I also have a plan that might help me prepare to focus better next time I pull this one out. <fingers crossed>

I noticed a number of trailers and moving trucks around town today. The mass arrival of students for the fall term has begun. I encountered students with their parents and siblings on Main Street when walking. They were looking around the town and looking for places to dine. It always reminds me of the times I moved to university as an undergrad and the post-grad -- moves that involved participation by my family. It is a time of year that always makes me smile.

A few lines of a song came to mind, even though it refers to high school. It could just as easily fit with university. Keep safe. Enjoy!
