9-231 (19/8/22) -- Summer and Trousers

I took a long afternoon walk that helped me work out some anxiety. Exercise helps. The sun was very hot and I felt sticky from sweat mixing with sunscreen. <smile>  As I walked down Main Street, I encountered many people carrying lawn chairs as they headed to the park (a athletic field for the most part). Tonight is the first of two days of a music festival that has been on hold for two years. The lineup is amazing for a small town. The ticketed area is fenced off in the back but in the area nearer to the street, there will be folks listening even though they can't see the stage. I'm not one for sitting in a crowd all day in the hot sun for two days in a row. Nor do I like sitting on grass in the darkness when any mosquito within 20 km will find me. <grin> I have done this for shorter times and it is fun. It might depend on who goes with me. Hmmm

The headliner tonight is a local band who have made a name for themselves within the country and elsewhere. They opened for the Stones during the Canadian tour and have several albums to their credit. They constantly are in the top 150 artists for sales and regularly in the top 40 with their music. Needless to say they have a following here. I recall hearing them when they were a high school band. Three members have been at the core of the band from the start.  The band name has always contained a reference to trousers and still does in a UK usage fashion. <grin> I chose one of this band's songs to share tonight. I love the words of the final verse --

Another day passing away

I hope to learn from my mistakes

Everyone must feel the same

Another day under the gun

Racing the clock, chasing the sun.

If you aren't familiar with the group, it is worth listening to some of their other stuff. Very cool. Keep safe. Enjoy!
