9-220 (8/8/22) -- Looking for Rain

Today was far cooler than the past several days.Clouds helped things feel cooler, too. Rain is expected and sincerely hope it will come in significant amounts this week. Things are way too dry and crispy outside. The area of the yard with poorest drainage has brown grass -- a rarity for sure.

When thinking of and hoping for rain today, I said that when the rain arrives, I'd gladly stand out in it -- just a type of welcome. We get rain often in this maritime climate. Now it has been a noticeably long time since we've seen a gentle soaking rain. Walking in the rain can be relaxing -- provided one is wearing the requisite gear. Listening to the rain brings a sense of calm. the gentle rhythm and sound from rain can restore one's soul. Granted, wind that pushes rain or monsoonal heavy rains are entirely different beasts -- not relaxing at all. So, I'm hoping for a couple of rainy days rather than short-lived downpours in a storm system.

Songs tend to use rain as a metaphor for the unpleasantness of life. That makes me sad, since rain can be wonderful. [Remind me I said that when we've had two solid weeks of cloud and rain this coming fall <grin>] There are a few happier sounding songs about rain that came to mind. I chose one that I don't think I've used before in the blog. The lyrics remind me that I am from the prairies and that it took time for me to begin to appreciate the rain after moving to the Atlantic coastal regions. Keep safe. Enjoy!
