The day began with clouds, but I could feel the heat beating down on my head when I was out for a short morning walk. Humidity is climbing again this week with major heat indexes expected over the next four days or more. Due to the forecast, we decided to make an inside reservation for lunch at one of our favourite restaurants. Lunches have not been offered since reopening after pandemic shutdowns. I'm looking forward to this outing. <smile>
I met with a research colleague to discuss a paper under revision. It is nice to get back to this project. <smile> Another meeting took me out of the house in the afternoon. I stopped by campus to print a few documents needed for several projects. It felt great to see some things moving forward again.
I met several people today who enjoy the heat and humidity// They had big grins as they walked outside. More folks, though, seem to feel the effects of increased temperatures as acutely as I do. It is a time of year when moving around or driving somewhere can be easier than when we have to contend with ice and snow. I've always maintained that we try to pack 12 months of living into two to three months of summer. I'll admit to enjoying many activities of the summer -- eating outdoors, sitting on the porch or deck, walking in the cool of the evening, or walking along the beach. They all help me to smile. Thinking through this today, a song came to mind that I share here. Keep safe. Enjoy!
