9-226 (14/8/22) -- Accosted by Words

Rain fell intermittently throughout the day. Each time I thought of going for a walk, it started again. So, that plan will wait until tomorrow. I did some housework and reading today. It was a quiet day. I did find myself thinking of encounters with bullies from days on the school yard to my professional career and in my personal life as an adult. I appreciate speaking to people as adults to address any difficulties, yet many people don't act like adults. <sigh>   Most seem like unhappy people if one is able to see through their unpleasantness. My way of dealing with bullies has been to turn and walk away -- refusing to engage. This doesn't make me any less angry with the affronts, but is can stop the bullies in their tracks. In my experience, this creates extra frustration in them when the target of their diatribe just leaves. It feels a bit passive-aggressive, but it provides some time for de-escalation or calming a bit before dealing with the topic at hand -- if there even is one worth discussing.

The song chosen to share tonight, notes the need for group responses to bullying behaviour. We can't stand by and watch or ignore such situations.  Keep safe. Enjoy!
