9-308 (4/11/22) -- Missing Paper

Today felt like a cooler summer day )20C/68F). I was shopping for groceries and some Christmas ideas wearing a t-shirt -- the sun was so warm. When I got back home, I did a hand wash of the car -- the first time that has ever happened in November! The next few days are to be slightly warmer and then we will be closer to seasonal temps with daytime highs in the single digits Celsius. The weather is like a roller coaster at this time of year -- going up and down so one has no idea what to wear each day <smile>. We are getting more cooler days and nights, but the warmer days are so beyond what is usual.

When shopping today, I had to go to two stores to find most items. I had four missing items in one store and then found only one item at another store for more than I expected to pay. That item was wax paper. With the paper shortage that has been plaguing the globe since the pandemic began, these types of products will be in short supply for some time into the next year. I don't bake with it -- parchment paper is used for that. I wrap food items that need a moisture barrier. I do have lovely beeswax coated cotton wraps that work well for refrigerated items in bowls or containers without lids. For other items wax paper can help keep things fresh, too.

While I generally don't use paper to wrap a gift (I choose reusaable gift bags or boxes sometimes with a bit of tissue), for some reason this song ran through my mind when thinking of the paper shortage. It also fits with the nearing holiday season. Keep safe. Enjoy!
